When you take movies from the UK, USA, the EU, Egypt,South Africa they all seem to have a uniquic colour schemes. When you watch some of our classic Ghanaian movies/videos, specially the NAFTI type they had a certain unique colour scheme that brings out the storyline into reality.
So why are we not using those colour schemes. It appears everybody want to shoot movies and videos like the other foreigners but one thing they keep forgetting is, their choice of colour scheme is base on their weather/ sunlight intensity.Photography 101.
We have a lot of sun rays and it bright most part of the day hence one will not expect us to use the same set of schemes here in Ghana.
When you see movies from Uganda, Kenya they all have unique pictures distinct from those from South Africa even though they closer.
Sad to say that Ghana, on the other hand has decided to pick those of South Africa for our music Videos and for our movies we gone in for something of the UK. I am not saying they are not good, all am saying is, it get to a point where you can't tell the image colours because they all seem the same to the average eyes.
When do we get to see some of the beautiful rich colours scenes of Ghana and its country sides without those filters. Maybe it going to stay a dream but I long to see that day, it is a strong belief of mine that the up and coming young video directors will break free and be unique in bringing out the gold in us (not the one that we sold but those that are un-mine)
I know we have come a long way but does that mean we shouldn't get an identity, let me know what your thoughts are, don't hold back.
