Google's made another significant improvement: the ability to set or change the password on your #Android device from afar using #Android Device Manager
This tool already let you remotely find, ring and erase your Android phone or tablet from any computer or mobile device -- but this give you extra protection if you should misplaced your phone or tablet.
All you do is go to google.com/android/devicemanager, select the phone or tablet you want, and select the "Lock" command. #Google will then prompt you for a password.
Seconds later, regardless of where your phone is, it'll be locked with that new code -- whether you had a PIN, pattern, or password on it before or not.
You could also select the "Ring" command for your phone to ring at maximum volume even if its on silence.
Or you could also select the "Erase" command to erase all data on you phone to prevent others from accessing them. Only use this if you sure you phone is stolen and there is no chance you getting it back.
This is available on Android device running 2.2 release or higher.
Let the new Android Device Manager help you out! It's one of a few simple features you can use to keep your device—and the data you store inside—safe and secure.
You have to activate the function on each device in order for it to work.
